Snap Saturday: Red Dead Wildlife

Welcome to Snap Saturday, GTANet’s ode to the virtual photography community who continue to capture some amazingly creative shots across GTA and Red Dead.

You could argue Red Dead Redemption 2 has some of the most realistic animals in gaming. People have been impressed with them since release, Rockstar has gone to the effort of modelling whole ecosystems within the game and inter-species interactions, and even academic studies have been done analysing these animals, how they react and how useful they actually are for people to learn about the animal world in real life! Not only that, but they have gone to quite large extents to ensure some of these animals, like the player’s horse, act and move as realistically as possible, as you can see in this Rockstar North GDC presentation about the horses.

Not only they act realistically, but the art and design behind these animals is also phenomenal, and it would be a crime to not highlight how good they look in the world of Red Dead Redemption 2, from the deserts, to the water, to the forests and prairies, and even the skies.

Hundreds of species are available, from bunnies, kitties, alligators and all kinds of sea animals, all kinds of birds, foxes, deer, frogs, lizards, geckos, badgers, bears, cougars, they’re uncountable – which is yet another reason why I think it should be highlighted.

As always, snaps are handpicked from the GTAForums, Twitter and Social Club communities. We hope you enjoy this showing of the wild life of Red Dead, as it’s just too appropriate. Let’s get going!

Post your virtual photography on GTAForums or use the #GTAOnline / #RedDeadOnline hashtags on Twitter and you might see your efforts highlighted in future GTANet Snap Saturdays!
