Over the past 24 hours, pre-ordering and pre-loading of GTAV and GTA Online on new-generation consoles has slowly become available as each region reached midnight, with confirmation arriving on the Newswire earlier today.
With pricing available, this does confirm there is no upgrade path and the new release will incur a cost, however it is currently incredibly cheap due to a generous 75%/50% sale on PS5 and Xbox respectively lasting for 3 months.
After 14th June 2022, they will return to the same full price across both platforms. The current sale prices are listed below.
Playstation 5
GTAV (includes GTA Online) – £8.75 / $9.99 (full price £34.99 / $39.99)
GTA Online standalone – Free (full price £17.99 / $19.99)
Size – approx 87gb
Xbox Series X/S
GTAV (includes GTA Online) – £17.49 / $19.99 (full price £34.99 / $39.99)
GTA Online standalone – £8.99 / $9.99 (full price £17.99 / $19.99)
Size – approx 95gb
If you choose to buy now, you can also download the game immediately so it’s ready to play next week. At the moment, it looks to be a local midnight release for every region, and you can transfer story mode progress before launch as well.
There are presently no details to share regarding the physical releases and whether they will be priced the same with a concurrent sale, so we’ll have to wait to hear from Rockstar on that one.
To pre-load, you can find the games individually on all Microsoft store apps for Xbox, but for PS5 you can only access them through the old-gen product page on the console itself right now as there is no listing on the Sony website or the PS App; see my tweet below for instructions.
If you’ve got any questions or queries about pre-loads, don’t be a stranger to the GTAV and GTA Online sections of GTAForums!
