After Ruffian Games announced more than once that it was working with “partner” Rockstar Games, it looks like R* has taken it a step further and has straight-up purchased the Scottish studio, located in Dundee, just where R* was initially founded as DMA Design!
Ruffian Games are most often known for consisting of developers behind Xbox games like Crackdown and Project Gotham Racing, and they have developed Crackdown 2 and 3, along with having ported the Halo: Master Chief Collection to the PC.
What does this mean? Well, it means that Rockstar is adding a new studio to its workforce, and a studio that is known for porting at that! It could mean Rockstar is focusing on developing ports or remasters of old titles, and, of course, more devs is never a bad thing for future titles either.
